At a glance...
Pixel Fishing is a generative NFT collection made of 3,000 fully
animated sea creatures living on the Ethereum network. The
collection is created from over 200 unique, pixel-art sea
creatures and over 120 traits.
But under the surface...
Pixel Fishing is built on top of an innovative, time-based, manual
reveal system that allows collectors more control over what they
ultimately get. The process is simple. The collector starts by
minting an unrevealed "Bait" NFT. Then depending on when the
owner goes "Pixel Fishing" with their bait by activating the manual
reveal process, they will only get certain, season-specific
creatures. The
"Fishing Seasons" table above shows what the current season is and
which creatures can be revealed on any given day. After you've
revealed your NFT, if you don't like the creature you caught, you'll
have the ability to refish/reroll up to 3 times. This is just the
tip of the iceberg of what we're doing with our time-based, manual
reveal system. There will also be time or quantity-limited,
fishing events, but more on that later...

A: There will be a total of 3,000 Pixel Fishing baits. 2,000 for
public and 1,000 for Fishlist.

Mechanics
Q: How does the time-based manual reveal system work?
A: You start by minting a "Bait". Then depending on when you
manually reveal your bait (go "Pixel Fishing") only creatures
within the season based on the day will be revealed/caught. The
"Fishing Season" table shows which creatures can be
caught/revealed on which days. During Fishing Events, however,
what you can catch may change.
Q: How does the refish/reroll mechanic work?
A: All Pixel Fishing baits provide 3 refish/reroll attempts. The
first refish/reroll will be on the house (excluding gas) but the
2nd and 3rd will require a small fee + gas. Each bait can only
fish once every 24 hours.
Q: How will fishing events work?
A: Once activated on sell out, fishing events will provide better
chances to fish/reveal rare or new creatures. They will either be
scheduled or stealth-dropped (follow our Twitter for
announcements) and will be limited by time or quantity. For
example, we may tweet "There's a full moon out and there seems to
be an increase in spirit creatures in the seas. This full moon
will be ending in 5 mins" which would be a stealth-dropped event
that is limited by time (5 minutes) where the chances of
catching/revealing a spirit variant creature are significantly
increased. Another example, we might tweet "At 12:00 PM PST Friday
5/5 (Cinco de Mayo) there will be 10 zombie creatures visiting the
pier" which would be a scheduled event that's limited by quantity
(10 zombie creatures) where the chances of catching/revealing a
zombie variant creature are significantly increased until 10
zombie creatures are caught.

Q: Why does the website's top banner art change every day?
A: The website's top banner art depicts the current fishing season
(winter, spring, summer, autumn, or all-seasons).
Q: Do the creatures shown swimming in the ocean mean anything?
A: They show what can be caught/revealed that day which is based
on the Fishing Season of that day.
Q: What is the Fishing Season table?
A: This table shows exactly which creature species spawn during
which season and which day of the week corresponds to those
seasons. While Friday-Sunday is considered "all seasons" and you
can catch everything.
Q: What time zone are the Fishing Seasons based on?
A: Pacific Standard Time. There is also a live clock on the top
left of the Fishing Season table.
Q: Why are some of the creatures in the Fishing Season table and
in the ocean blacked out?
A: Creatures that are blacked out in the Ocean and Fishing Season
table signify those creatures have not been caught/revealed by any
fisherman yet. However, we have prerevealed all common creatures
as a sneak peek.
Q: What are the Leaderboards?
A: The Leaderboards immortalizes our best fisherman. It will show
the wallet address of whoever does the following for each creature
species:
- First to catch
- Caught the biggest
- Caught the most.
Q: What is the Fishing Report?
A: The Fishing Report shows what people have been
catching/revealing recently. It will show a log of the most recent
100 catches/reveals.
